  Customized Programs For Every Need

Special Educational Needs

For a family with a daughter or a boy with special educational needs it is not easy to understand how to help him and the school is not always receptive to additional services.

AbaMi is a gym for learning. AbaMI offers educational services to help students of all ages and school levels, providing didactic support in carrying out their homework in the afternoon. We teach kids to use school materials, manage time, schedule deadlines, organize study sessions and breaks, to be effective and efficient in carrying out homework, thus promoting autonomy.

At AbaMI we develop an alternative study method, "tailored" to every single boy, to optimize every single educational opportunity.

 Autism

While in Italy we have been talking about autism for a few years, in the United States the treatments based on the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) are a reality consolidated by decades of studies and progress.

The AbaMI gym offers a controlled environment and individualized programs where the child learns and improves social, communication and personal care skills.

Children who undertake a rehabilitation program will be able to take advantage of a detailed assessment of their starting skills, through a global criteria assessment.

After this first phase, the AbaMi therapists structure a highly individualized therapeutic-rehabilitative path, in which the behavioral principles are the foundation of the teaching. Children work 1:1 and with different therapists to promote generalization. Every six months, the AbaMi therapists repeat the initial assessment to the children to monitor the effectiveness of the intervention and redesign future programs based on the skills acquired.

Tasks and Augmentation (DSA)

Law 170/2010 recognizes only dyslexia, dysgraphia, dysorthography and dyscalculia as specific learning disabilities (DSA) on which to focus school attention, while the panorama of disorders that can cause considerable discomfort in pupils is much more ample.

For this reason, in the directive of December 2012, it is pointed out that it is necessary to pay more attention in the classroom and try to identify all those pupils who need special attention due to a socio-cultural disadvantage, due to the presence of DSA and/or or specific developmental disorders (SEN).

Law 170/2010 protects these pupils by allowing them to make use of appropriate educational and didactic support measures, unfortunately this is often not recognized by the schools themselves.

Too frequently these difficulties are mistaken for lack of motivation to study, carelessness, family dispositions (even my father didn't study as a boy) and individual ones (he doesn't commit himself, he's listless). The consequence is that school failure and dropouts are on the increase.

AbaMi offers educational services to help students of all ages and school levels, providing educational support in carrying out homework in the afternoon.

We teach kids to use school material, to manage time, to schedule deadlines, to organize study sessions and breaks, to be effective and efficient in carrying out homework, thus promoting autonomy.

We instill in children, supporting expectations and hopes, promoting goals and to achieve them, we value improvement and encourage growth behavior. We value knowledge, curiosity and ingenuity.

In this way each individual student becomes aware of and, as a result, will develop a sense of personal growth.

Making children aware of their difficulties and strengths is the necessary step to improve their learning.

The therapists support this process and, together, develop an alternative study method, "tailored" to each individual boy, to optimize every single educational opportunity.

Through the Strengthening AbaMi structures specific programs to improve school skills (problem solving, grammar, spelling), after having carried out a complete educational evaluation.

For students with DSA (dyslexia, dysorthography, dyscalculia and dysgraphia), the therapists identify specific recovery programs, training courses for the construction and use of compensatory and dispensatory tools, creating a strong collaboration with the schools of origin for the academic programming.

For a family with a child with SLD it is not easy to understand that one's child, who in many family and social situations is awake, intelligent, lively and brilliant, is unable like the others to read a text, to perform a mathematical operation or to write without making spelling mistakes.

AbaMI takes into consideration the family, social and school situation of the child as a whole so as to identify the resources and potential available to favor an improvement in the living environment.

AbaMI offers Parent Training meetings .) and organizes training events aimed at parents of children with autism on the main issues of behavioral management and everyday life referring to the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
